Connect Happier Forms to Claude

5 min read Updated

The short answer

In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste https://happierforms.com/api/mcp. Sign in to Happier Forms, pick a workspace and press Allow. Claude can then create, change, publish, close and delete forms and read submissions, with the same role you have in that workspace. It is free on every plan.

What we’ve been working on

A lot of people now start their work in a chat with an AI app. They plan an event there, draft an email there, and think through what they need to ask a new customer. Then they open a form builder and type it all out again.

So we built a connector. Once you connect Happier Forms to Claude, you can ask Claude to build a form, change it, publish it, and read what people sent back, without leaving the chat. Everything it makes is a normal Happier Forms form, so you can open it in the app and keep working on it there.

The connector is free on every plan. It works the same way in Claude on the web, the desktop app, the phone app and Claude Code.

Connect it in Claude

You need a Happier Forms account. There is no key to copy: you sign in and choose a workspace.

Step 1 · Add

  • Settings → Connectors
  • Add custom connector
  • Paste the address

Step 2 · Sign in

  • Claude opens Happier Forms
  • Sign in to your account

Step 3 · Allow

  • Pick a workspace
  • Press Allow
  • Back in Claude, ready
Connecting takes three steps and no key.
  1. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector, name it Happier Forms, and paste this address: https://happierforms.com/api/mcp
  3. Press Connect. Claude sends you to Happier Forms. Sign in if you aren’t already.
  4. Pick the workspace Claude should work in and press Allow. You’re sent back to Claude.

The same address is on the Settings, AI apps page in Happier Forms, with a button to copy it. On a Team or Enterprise plan of Claude, an owner of your Claude organization may need to add the connector first.

In Claude Code

Run this in a terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http happier-forms https://happierforms.com/api/mcp

Then start Claude Code, type /mcp, choose happier-forms and sign in. Your browser opens the same Allow screen.

What Claude can do

The connector gives Claude nine tools. Four only read. Five change something, and by default Claude asks for your permission before it uses those.

ToolWhat it doesKind
get_form_formatReads the rules for writing a form, so Claude gets the questions rightReads
list_formsLists your forms with their status and submission countsReads
get_formReads one form: its questions, logic and linksReads
list_submissionsReads submissions, newest first, for one form or all of themReads
create_formCreates a new form as a draftChanges
update_formChanges a form’s title, questions, logic or thank-you messageChanges
publish_formPuts a form live at its public linkChanges
close_formStops a live form from taking new submissionsChanges
delete_formDeletes a form for good, with its submissionsChanges
The nine tools. By default, Claude asks before using any tool marked Changes.

A new form is always a draft. Nothing is public until it’s published, and Claude is told to check with you before publishing, before changing a live form, and before deleting anything. If a form already has submissions, the first try at deleting it is refused, and Claude is told to ask you before it tries again.

Things to try

  • “Make a sign-up form for our Saturday pottery class: name, email, experience level and dietary needs.”
  • “Add a question asking how they heard about us, then publish it.”
  • “Which of my forms got the most submissions this week?”
  • “Summarise the feedback form answers from October and list anything people asked for more than once.”
  • “Close the summer camp form, it’s full.”

What it doesn’t do

  • Where submissions go. Emails, Slack messages, rows in Google Sheets and the other steps after a form is sent are set up in the Flow tab in Happier Forms, not from Claude.
  • Billing, members and settings. Those stay in the app.
  • More than one workspace at a time. Each connection works in the one workspace you picked. To switch, connect again and pick the other workspace.

Who can do what

Claude acts as you, with the role you have in the workspace you picked. It can never do more than you could do in the app yourself.

Your roleWhat Claude can do
Owner or adminRead, create, change, publish, close and delete any form
EditorRead, create, change, publish and close forms; delete the forms they created
ViewerRead forms and submissions only
Claude gets the role you have in the workspace you picked.

Publishing needs a confirmed email address, the same as in the app. If your workspace requires two-factor sign-in, your account needs it turned on before you can pick that workspace.

Your data

  • Happier Forms only sees the tool calls Claude makes, such as “list my forms”. We never see your conversation with Claude.
  • What a tool returns, such as the answers in your submissions, is sent to Claude so it can answer you. Claude is told to treat those answers as data and not to follow instructions written inside them.
  • The connection uses sign-in tokens that last an hour and are renewed in the background. We keep a record of when each connection was made and last used, which you can see in Settings, AI apps.

Read the full privacy policy. For help, see our support page.

Disconnect

In Happier Forms, open Settings, AI apps and press Disconnect next to the app. It stops working at once, and its tokens can’t be renewed. You can also remove the connector in Claude’s Connectors settings, but only disconnecting in Happier Forms cancels the access on our side.

Questions

Is the Happier Forms connector for Claude free?

Yes. It works on every Happier Forms plan, including Free. Forms made from Claude follow the same plan rules as forms made in the app.

Can Claude publish or delete my forms without asking?

Creating, changing, publishing, closing and deleting are marked as actions that change data, so by default Claude asks for your permission before it uses them. A new form is always a draft until it is published. If a form has submissions, the first try at deleting it is refused, and Claude is told to ask you before it tries again.

Does Happier Forms see my conversations with Claude?

No. Happier Forms only receives the tool calls Claude makes, such as listing your forms or reading submissions. Your conversation stays with Claude.

Can Claude set up where my submissions are sent?

No. Emails, Slack messages, Google Sheets rows and the other steps after a form is sent are set up in the Flow tab in Happier Forms.

How do I disconnect Claude from Happier Forms?

Open Settings, AI apps in Happier Forms and press Disconnect next to Claude. The connection stops working at once.
